Largest ever World Ballet Day

Anna Rose O’Sullivan

The Royal Ballet and The Australian Ballet have announced that 61 companies will participate in the largest World Ballet Day yet, streaming from six continents.

Audiences are invited to take part in the largest ever global dance challenge, and share a video of themselves performing a piece of choreography inspired by The Sleeping Beauty, as demonstrated by Royal Ballet Principal Anna Rose O’Sullivan. No ballet experience is necessary, and content should be shared using #WorldBalletDay.

This year’s line-up features 14 companies taking part for the first time, including Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo, Joffrey Ballet and The Washington Ballet. They will join returning companies American Ballet Theatre, Paris Opera Ballet, National Ballet of Japan, Cape Town City Ballet and more than 50 others.

Exclusive content will be available on TikTok, as well as full-length streams on YouTube and Facebook, offering behind-the-scenes glimpses of ballet’s biggest stars and upcoming performers.

The Royal Ballet’s livestream will commence at 11AM on 2 November 2022.
